How do you celebrate having amazing girlfriends? How about popping open a few bottles of Gloria Ferrer sparkling wines?! I am blessed to have wonderful girlfriends and I wanted to do something special to celebrate our friendship. Therefore, I decided to have a “Girls’ Night In vs a “Girls Night Out”! I enjoy spending time with my friends whether it is meeting for coffee, going out to dinner or attending an event. However, I find that going out doesn’t always allow for intimate conversations. It is also not the best way to introduce friends to each other and make new connections.
So how did I plan a girls’ night in? Since I know my girlfriends are usually busy on the weekends, I decided to do a “Wine Down Wednesday” event at my home. My friends and I love good wine and great food so this idea came to me pretty easily. Nothing marks a celebration like a great bottle of champagne! Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards in Sonoma County makes delicious bubbles! Gloria Ferrer Caves & Vineyards is the first sparkling wine house in the Carneros AVA. Carneros is an appellation located between Napa and Sonoma Valleys. It is a family run winery which opened in 1986. The Ferrer family migrated from Spain however they brought clones from France to plant in their vineyard. They were the first to do so. The winery is actually named after Jose Ferrer’s wife Gloria! 30 years later the Ferrer family manages 335 acres of vines. They are known for their expertise in making Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Their efforts have produced over 500 gold medals! For the girls night in event we enjoyed the Blanc De Blancs and the Brut Rose! The Rose was perfect for this time of year!
Here are some tips for planning a girls’ night in:
1. Choose a fun theme. I chose to do a wine event since I know my friends love wine especially sparkling wine!
2. Pick food and snacks that are easy to eat while talking and moving around. I chose to do tapas along with cheeses, nuts and fruit.
3. Choose an ice breaker for guests that may not know each other. Make it unique vs. “where are you from?” Two of my favorites are asking what is someone’s favorite travel destination or favorite novel.
4. Have fun games or great movies available that fit your theme. I have a wine card trivia game that is easy to play. It is not only fun but educational. If you are doing a wine themed girls’ night in, some great movies are “ Sideways”, the documentary “SOMM” and “A Good Year”.
Using the above tips I am sure you will have an amazing girls’ night in with Gloria Ferrer Wines! I am actually looking forward to visiting the caves and vineyards on my next trip to Sonoma! Have you ever hosted a “girls’ night in”? If so share your thoughts with us below!
