On Wednesday December 6th I had the pleasure of attending one of many Mandarin Oriental Atlanta Events. “Bountiful Bubbles” was a 5-course seasonal dinner paired with Veuve Clicquot Champagnes. Brand Ambassador Lauren Wilenski brought her expertise and delicious champagnes from the Veuve Clicquot Champagne House to the Mandarin Oriental Atlanta for this spectacular event.

Before I get into the details of the dinner, I thought I would share some of the history of one the world’s best-known champagnes. “Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin” was founded in 1772 in Reims, France. (I accomplished my bucket list of visiting Reims, France in September and will be sharing my experience on that soon!)
Phillipe Clicquot-Muiron established the original Veuve Clicquot Champagne House. His son Francois’ widow-Madame Clicquot-inherited the company. Do you know what widow is in French? Veuve 🙂 By the time of her passing in 1866, Veuve Clicquot Champagne House had achieved great success all over Europe. That has continued into today with its distinct luxury brand.
Experiencing the Mandarin Oriental Atlanta
The atmosphere and décor for the “Bountiful Bubbles” Veuve Clicquot event was very sophisticated. I expected nothing less at a Mandarin Oriental Atlanta Event. During the reception, guests enjoyed a cold glass of Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne paired with Foie Gras Terrine Canape. One of the many things I learned during the evening was how important it is to serve champagne cold! The ideal temperature to serve champagne is 45 degrees F.
Although I have been to countless wine and food pairings, this was my first champagne and food pairing dinner. It was also the first time that I sampled several varieties of Veuve Clicquot champagne. I think most people are familiar with the yellow label Brut selection. However, they are actually credited with being the first champagne house to create rose´ champagne! I think I have a new favorite-the Demi-Sec! Feast your eyes on the following five courses and get inspired to not only serve Veuve Clicquot Champagne at your next dinner but also attend Mandarin Oriental Atlanta Events!
