Have you ever been on a solo trip? I finally documented my first and life changing solo trip for TravelNoire. In 2011 after several heart breaking events in my life I decided to travel to Northern California to “Eat, Pray, Love”. This was of course inspired by the book from Elizabeth Gilbert and the film with Julia Roberts. If you have ever thought of getting away by yourself to relax and recuperate your mind, body and soul then I hope this blog post inspires you to do so. I spent my “Eat” portion in San Francisco, my “Pray” portion in Yosemite National Park and my “Love” portion in Carmel and Monterey and traveling along Big Sur! It has been so well received on TravelNoire that I had to share it with The Sophisticated Life readers! I hope you enjoy it. To view the complete article click HERE.

Love this.
I took a solo travel trip to Los Angeles in 2013 for #FiguringOut40LA.
I wish I’d expanded my trip a bit to see the beach and Pacific Coast Highway.
Hope it’s OK if I leave my link to my posts http://mommytalkshow.com/category/figuring-out-40/figuringout40la/
I have not yet but I look forward to doing one soon 😀
Chanel I am sure you will enjoy doing a solo trip in the states! So many great places to choose from but I love California!
This trip sounds AMAZING – I read it on Travel Noire! Although I moved out-of-state by myself, I’ve never been on a solo trip – in the true sense of the word – by myself. I’ve never really had the urge to travel solo, but I can totally understand how therapeutic it would be after a major life change. Plus, I love the Bay Area, and Monterey/Carmel are my favorite parts of California. You picked the perfect “Eat, Pray, Love” destinations!
Thank you Dana! It really was an amazing trip and those cities were perfect for what I wanted to accomplish! Thank you for reading and commenting!
Great Blog! I can totally understand situations leading to and the therapeutic aspect of traveling solo. I actually grew up in the Bay Area near Oakland. I have traveled and taken trips to Europe but the only time I have every traveled solo would have been on road trips across the states.
It’s funny I have a similar photo that was taken when I visited half dome at
Yosemite. It might be the same exact spot hehe 😉 Last time I visited Yosemite I came across a Wine in a restaurant called Maximus. Maximus is made by Bennett Lane Winery and my was it delicious! I order from their Website now which makes things a lot easier. If you want to try their wines you can visit http://www.bennettlane.com
Thank you again for such an amazing blog! I may have to take a solo trip in the near future!
