Where to Eat Mother’s Day Brunch in Atlanta!

by Nadeen
September 19, 2019
A A

Mother’s Day is in 1 week! If you are wondering where to eat Mother’s Day brunch in Atlanta, I have got you covered.

Brunch is my favorite meal of the day. You get the best of breakfast and lunch in one yummy meal. Atlanta has many great brunch choices. Last year I wrote about my top 10 favorite places in “Best Brunch Restaurants in Atlanta.” Since that time I have visited a few new places that would be perfect for Mother’s Day brunch!

Local Three:

Local Three is a unique restaurant located in Buckhead Atlanta. The indoor décor is sophisticated yet cozy with colorful paintings on the wall and a long welcoming bar area. For Sunday brunch the restaurant opens up their kitchen to diners. For one set price you have an all you can eat buffet filled with food literally right off the grill. You are able to walk through the kitchen and check out the chefs in action. There are a variety of foods from eggs benedict to short rib hash to seared scallops to macaroni and cheese. Dessert offerings include cakes and tarts and even Panna Cotta. Mother’s Day brunch will be served from 10am-3pm. The cost is $39.93 for adults and $19.93 for ages 6-12. Children under 6 eat free!

Sweet Auburn Seafood:

I first wrote about Sweet Auburn Seafood after attending their Aroma Monday’s event. I had dinner there and it was delicious. I returned during the downtown Atlanta food walk tour and sampled their shrimp and grits served with chicken sausage. One of the best shrimp and grits dishes I have had in Atlanta! Based on these experiences, I had my book club brunch there last winter. Some favorite brunch items include the lobster pot pie, fried shrimp and waffles, seafood omelet and of course the shrimp and grits. So, if your mother loves seafood, this a great place to eat Mother’s Day brunch in Atlanta. Sweet Auburn Seafood restaurant is open for brunch on Sundays from 11am to 4pm.

South City Kitchen:

South City Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta! There are currently two locations in Midtown Atlanta and Vinings. There is a new location coming to Buckhead Atlanta. I recently returned for their jumbo lump crab cake hash and it was divine. The she crab soup, the Springer Mountain Farms fried chicken and waffle and the Springer Mountain Farms fried chicken served with bliss potatoes and collard greens were also hits. On Sundays brunch is served from 10am to 3pm.

Southern Art:

Southern Art is located in the Intercontinental hotel in Buckhead Atlanta. It is the brainchild of Oprah’s former personal chef-Art Smith. After having dinner and lunch there, I finally experienced their Sunday brunch this year. First of all, the décor in Southern Art is absolutely gorgeous. It is very elegant. There was a live jazz trio playing which added to the ambience. For their Sunday brunch you can choose from a la carte items or the all you can eat buffet. On the a la carte menu expect traditional Southern favorites such as fried chicken and waffle, Georgia shrimp and grits and “Addie May’s Soup” which is Art’s family’s chicken and dumplings. The all you can eat buffet includes omelet and waffle stations. I actually had the chopped salad with grilled chicken and I enjoyed it. Sunday brunch is served from 11.30am to 3pm.

Here are some other places to eat Mother’s Day Brunch in Atlanta:

Park Tavern in Piedmont Park – Mother’s Day Brunch, 10:30 a.m.

On Sunday May 8, 2016, Park Tavern will once again host a special Mother’s Day brunch on its expansive patio overlooking picturesque Piedmont Park. One of its most popular annual events, guests are invited to celebrate Mom while enjoying an exuberant buffet that features chef-attended omelet, French Toast and carving stations in addition to traditional favorites like Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, Applewood-smoked bacon and sausage, cheese grits, sweet potato soufflé, assorted muffins, biscuits, and rolls, salads, and much more. Brunch is $34.95 for adults, $14.95 for children 7 years and older, and free for children 6 years and under. This price includes an assorted brunch, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages – all in the perfect setting overlooking Piedmont Park and the city skyline.

Tavernpointe – Traditional Mother’s Day Breakfast and Brunch, 11 a.m.
On Sunday, May 8, 2016, Tavernpointe is offering a special Mother’s Day breakfast and brunch menu from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring a selection of traditional brunch favorites and southern inspired lunch offerings.  For $25 a person and $15 for children 12 and under, guests can choose from an array of sweet appetizers and sides, salads, breakfast and brunch cuisine, as well as dessert options. Tavernpointe will also be offering a “Build Your Own Mimosa” option, for $20 per person, where guests will receive a bottle of champagne and carafe of their requested mixer. From large groups to intimate gatherings, Tavernpointe offers plenty of options for parties of all sizes and has an expansive patio overlooking Peachtree Street and a private dining room featuring a full bar.
Cypress Street Pint & Plate– Half Off for Moms on Mother’s Day, 10 a.m.
Cypress Street Pint and Plate is making Mother’s Day unforgettable this year by hosting a special Mother’s Day Brunch boasting Executive Chef Duane Styka’s newest offerings including an IPA cured salmon Benedict; the Cypress Frittata; Cypress Flapjacks; and more. Patrons who purchase one entree during brunch on Sunday, May 8, 2016 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. will receive half off of Mom’s entree. Full entrees must be ordered to receive the deal; beverages, appetizers and desserts are not included.
Dantanna’s – Mom’s Eat Free on Mother’s Day, 12 p.m.
With three convenient locations, Buckhead, Downtown and Sandy Springs, Dantanna’s is celebrating moms this Mother’s Day with a special treat. With the purchase of one meal on Sunday, May 8, 2016 between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., Mom’s will eat for free. Favorite signature brunch dishes at the Buckhead and Downtown locations include: Shirred Eggs in Tulips – two eggs baked in crepes with Maine lobster, shrimp and crawfish in brandy-lobster cream sauce; served with asparagus; Three Little Pigs – fried Niman Ranch pork scallopine, griddle honey ham and apple wood smoked bacon on toasted Kaiser bun with dijon aioli; and Oysters Rockefeller and Eggs – two poached eggs on flash fried oysters and Sambuca creamed spinach topped with sauce hollandaise and chopped apple wood smoked bacon.  Dantanna’s Tavern’s favorite dishes include: Pesto-Egg Sandwich – scrambled eggs, grilled tomato, basil pesto, provolone cheese and a telera bun served with potatoes and asparagus; Dantanna’s “Super” Bowl – Texas toast, grits, scrambled eggs, bacon, house made chicken sausage, potatoes and a jalapeno cheese sauce; and shrimp & grits – andouillie, onions, peppers, Sriracha cream, and thyme infused logan turnpike grits.

River Cruise vs Ocean Cruise: Which One is Right For You?

  • ***SAVE & SHARE FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL!
How many of these things do you do on a regular basis when you are taking off 🛫 on an international trip?

After the Maui and Morocco natural disasters I started thinking more about these things especially since I visited both places this year. I started to let some of these action items slip!

In case you missed my LIVE broadcast of “How to Prepare for Natural Disasters While Traveling” you can still catch it on my YouTube channel The Sophisticated Life. But these are some of the highlights!
https://youtu.be/0hK0LseyX9E?si=B-MCsaQc3Xm_wRM2

And let me tell you about the last one——we are already seeing Flu in our hospital and COVID is NOT going anywhere! So protect yourself! Wear your masks 😷 and please get vaccinated!

  • These memes have been cracking me up all week! 😂😂
Ever since my husband @parrishu70 and I met a couple in Champagne France 🇫🇷 with the most intense, printed color coded itinerary that even included times for naps 😴 -I kid you not-we have used their terminology of “trips” vs “vacations”.

TRIPS: usually go go go. You are in a city or place for a limited time so you want to see it all. These are tours and reservations and an itinerary. IE our group trip to Morocco. 5 cities in 9 days! Things have to be organized, you may pack outfits based on activities that are planned and you may be tired when you get back. Hence the term “I need a vacation from my vacation”.

VACATION: more relaxed. Go with the flow vs reservations and tours. Sleeping in in the mornings. Strolling around locations and popping into places. Relaxing on a beach all day for days at a time. Room service. Being lazy in a comfy bed. Going on a cruise.

Now it is possible to have a mix of these 2! Over the years I have learned a lot from my husband and since he prefers vacations, even if we visit cities, I make sure we have time to relax and stroll around. AND as I have gotten older I definitely need to recharge with vacations. I do feel energized on trips thou lol.

How about you? What’s your favorite?

  • Is anyone else holding on to summer like I am? Or are you ready for fall? I have no issue w less humid weather and crisper morning and evening air, I love pumpkin 🎃 but I do know that fall leads to winter and that IS not OK with me!!

I am already planning my winter 🥶 escapes. And I live in Atlanta!! My skin gets dry, my hands and feet stay cold and I miss feeling the sun 🌞 on my skin!! Maybe it’s my island 🏝️ 🇯🇲 roots lol

So which one are you? Summer? Fall? Or are you a winter or spring person?

  • My heart is heavy today. I am incredibly sad as I read reports and see the news about the earthquake in Morocco and the effects in Marrakech. 😔😔

As many of you know I traveled with 16 other adventurers for 9 days thru 5 cities in Morocco 🇲🇦 just 3 months ago!!!

We met so many incredible people. Of course after being on the road that long together we felt close to our guides and drivers. I even had a meeting with two of the team members yesterday while they were in Marrakech and the earthquake happened a few hours later.

My mind quickly went to them and all the people in my pictures wondering and hoping that they were safe. So far they are. But the death toll is over 1,000 and homes are crumbling. It’s a disaster.

As a physician this also made me wonder—-are you prepared to handle a natural disaster while traveling? Do you know what to do? Do you have things in order before you go on vacation? Let’s talk about it tomorrow evening LIVE here on Instagram and Facebook at 5pm PT and 8 pm ET. You can share your thoughts on the Maui fires as well. My husband and I were in Maui in April and I’m still trying to comprehend that places we visited are gone. People have lost so much the past few months. Please stay safe. But let’s also get prepared!

Sound off in the comments with any questions you would like answered tomorrow night!

Swipe left to see pics from cities all over Morocco 🇲🇦 the people make the place ❤️

  • Do you have a favorite spa in your city 🌆 that you go to regularly?
I do but recently I tried a new one and it was VERY RELAXING!

I have been to @stregisatl several times over the years but this was my first time using the spa. I had their version of an aromatherapy massage with hot stone add on.

A few things I truly enjoyed..
1) the changing rooms and relaxation areas were spacious. There was even a “blush room” if you wanted to change in private.
2) clean showers, saunas and steam rooms (the steam was too hot so I couldn’t stay in there 😣)
3) after my treatment I was offered Prosecco OR at St.Germaine spritzer! I went for the spritzer and it was pretty and refreshing 😋
4) the cool rags and cucumber slices-I took advantage of everything! Lol but it did help my headache
5) it was not crowded-I always make weekday appointments for the spa.
6) I was offered macarons and chocolates! I think this was a first for me. I received my own little tray and they were delicious!
7) The St.Regis does Champagne 🍾sabrage every evening at 6pm. So I ended my spa day with a glass of Champagne 🥂!

The only down side is you have to be a hotel guest to use the pool. I brought my bathing suit ready to relax there and have a late lunch but nope.

Have you been to this spa or a StRegis spa near you?

  • ***SAVE FOR YOUR TRIP TO WASHINGTON DC!
For those of you that have been following me you know how serious I am about supporting Black-Owned businesses when I travel.

Earlier this month I traveled to Washington DC for the inaugural “Future of Black Tourism” conference held by @blacksintourism . It was an epic event!

Prior to the conference I spent 2 days exploring Loudoun County Virginia thanks to @visitloudoun Funny story-I used to work at Loudoun County hospital as a physician over 20 years ago! It was hard to believe I was returning as a wine writer and content creator with @wsetglobal degree!

Northern Virginia is now a booming wine region and also the location of the 5-star luxury Black-Owned resort @salamanderresort in Middleburg-owned by Sheila Johnson. I was able to take a look around the grounds and it is lovely.

“The Family Reunion” event in collaboration with @chefkwameonwuachi took place there this past weekend. It is in its 3rd year. I haven’t been yet but I have seen & heard good things. Tickets sell out fast and it’s a lux $$ item so start planning!

I did spend a few nights @salamanderhoteldc It was the former Mandarin Oriental and there are plans for further renovations including the spa. I loved the spacious room and bathroom.

These are just 2 of the Salamander properties located in the US and Caribbean. Have you stayed in any of them? Remember, you do not have to be Black to support Black-owned businesses!

Please like, comment & share!
