2017 Travel Recap! Instagram Year in Review!

2017 Instagram Year in Review! A recap of my 2017 travels. 11 trips including international destinations, solo road trips, family travel and couples trips!

Welcome to my 2017 Instagram Year in Review! I was taking notes on my travels for the year and can’t believe I was able to pack so much in while working as a physician in Atlanta. Every year I do a recap on my blog. This year I have decided to share my favorite Instagram moments with you. Instagram used to be my favorite social media platform for my blog. However, I have had issues with it this year for many reasons. Their algorithm limits the accounts seen on your newsfeed, it has became highly competitive for bloggers resulting in the formation of groups to “beat the algorithm”, people buy followers and likes and not to mention all the “travel stunting” as I call it in which travel pictures have became more about modeling and stunts to get the most likes and to get featured on top travel accounts. However, it is still a great place to look back at all my great travel memories from the year.  In summary, in 2017 I took 11 trips including 3 International trips. I visited 5 new cities in the U.S, went on 3 solo road trips, a girls trip, a family trip and 4 couples trips with my husband. In addition, be sure to check out the Food & Wine sections of the blog. I attended several food & wine festivals, spectacular wine events and visited three new wine regions. You can also catch up on all my Atlanta happenings!

January: Thailand

I started the year out with a bang! I visited Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket and they were all amazing! It was dream come true to finally get to this destination.

March: South Africa

On my second trip to South Africa I visited Johannesburg and Cape Town. I was able to explore new areas of both cities and it has become one of my favorite places. During my time in Cape Town, I took a road trip along the Cape Peninsula and also visited wine country-Stellenbosch in particular. Look out for those posts this month!

April: San Diego California

This was not my first time in San Diego but it was my best trip there! I returned to the scenic area of La Jolla and spent the weekend at Hotel Del Coronado. Amazing!

I am really really really going to miss these views @delcoronado 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

May: Helen Georgia and Huntsville Alabama

Living in Atlanta for the past few years has allowed me to take several road trips to nearby cities and states. Helen had been on my bucket list for quite some time. The wineries and vineyards in the area are beautiful! I visited Huntsville for a travel conference. I actually had now no idea it was called “rocket city”. The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is located there. It was an interesting trip!

July: Portland Oregon, Chattanooga Tennessee, Nashville Tennessee

I visited Portland for the first time this past summer. I have always heard that it was foodie town and it did not disappoint. I also had the opportunity to visit Oregon wine country in Willamette Valley. That month I also took a solo road trip to Chattanooga and Nashville. I have been to Nashville before but this time made a point to stop in Chattanooga to visit Ruby Falls and Rock City.

August: Boston and Martha’s Vineyard

I had a great summer vacation with my brother and his family in Boston and Martha’s Vineyard. This was my first time visiting Boston in the summer and it was like being in a different city! I still have to write about all the cool stuff we did there. We also took a day trip over to Martha’s Vineyard. It was a monumental trip since it was the day of the full lunar eclipse!

September: Paris (is always a good idea)

I spent almost one year planning a romantic anniversary trip for my husband and I. It was his first trip to Paris and I wanted it to be special. Look out for a post in February on how to plan a romantic and epic trip to Paris! During our time in Paris, we took day trips to Brussels Belgium and Reims France. Reims is in the champagne region and it was another item checked off my bucket list! I will be writing about that experience as well in February.

Amazing views of Paris from Sacre-Coeur in Paris!! Oh how I miss that city! ❤️❤️

November: Savannah Georgia

I have been to Savannah several times and it is definitely one of my favorite places. This time I traveled there to attend the Savannah Food & Wine Festival. It was amazing! Delicious food from award winning chefs as well as wines from around the world. Definitely put this one on your bucket list!

December: Charleston South Carolina

I ended out the year with a trip to Charleston. It is hard to believe that this was my first visit to this charming Southern city! Since I was attending a medical conference there, I didn’t get to explore it as much as I would like. I do plan to return especially to explore more of the low country cuisine.

King St. Selfie 🤳 in Charleston SC! Have you been there? If you are looking for a place to shop and eat in Downtown Charleston then this is it!! It’s such a great walkable street with well known stores as well as cute boutiques. We were also able to enjoy the Christmas parade there last weekend! #visitcharleston #charlestonsc #travelcharleston #discovercharleston #visitsouthcarolina #southerncharm #welovecharleston #charlestonpictures #instacharleston #instacharlestonsc #ig_charleston #charlestonchristmas #downtowncharleston #kingstcharleston #travelbloggers #discoveramerica #usatravel #usatravels #christmastime #neogeotravel #luxurytraveler #luxurytravelblog #nomadness #travelnoire #blacktravelmovement #essencetravels
