I am ecstatic to have another family member as a guest blogger on my website to share her experience at Zoo Atlanta! My cousin Janene visited me here in 2012 and loved Atlanta so much she moved here last summer! One of her hobbies is photography and armed with a much better camera than mine she agreed to share her pictures from the Zoo after her first visit there last weekend. Thank you Janene! The Atlanta Zoo is just one of many attractions I mention in my blog post “ Why I Love Atlanta, GA &Why You Should Visit!” For more information on the Atlanta Zoo be sure to visit their website.

Janene: I can’t remember the last time I visited a zoo or if I had ever visited one at all. Needless to say, I was thrilled when I moved to Atlanta and found there was one just minutes from downtown Atlanta in the historic Grant Park. After paying the $21 entry fee, I was immediately greeted by the gorgeous, pink Chilean Flamingos. Although I am not typically a fan of any type of bird, they were definitely entertaining to watch. The zoo offers a wide range of birds, mammals and even has a must see “World of Reptiles.” I was lucky enough to visit at a time when there were a variety of baby mammals too including: African Lions, Black Rhinoceroses, Gorillas and the Giant Panda. There is nothing better than watching the interactions between a momma and her babies. Not only was it fun to look at the animals but they have zoo keepers all throughout the park to answer any questions you might have. To be honest, I never expected the Atlanta Zoo to have as many animals as it did. I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend this outing to locals and tourists! Enjoy the pictures!!
