The Hotel:
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Atlanta airport’s newest and chicest hotel-The Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel. From the moment I arrived I was struck by the whimsical and modern décor of this boutique hotel. I actually felt as if I was in New York City vs. 3 minutes from the Atlanta airport! Renaissance hotels are the lifestyle brand of the Marriott hotel chain. The Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel does an excellent job of combining its modern décor with Southern Atlanta charm. You will notice murals by local artists throughout the hotel as well as porch inspired swings in the lobby. There are multiple sitting areas each with it’s own unique character. With a location near the busiest airport in the world, it makes sense that a travel theme is incorporated in its design. If you’re looking for the best hotels in Atlanta, or just the best Atlanta airport hotels, you’ve come to the right place.
Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel – One of the best hotels in Atlanta.
Here are some basic facts about the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel:
1. It is part of the Gateway Campus which includes the Marriott Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel and SpringHill Suites Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel. All the hotels are accessible via the SkyTrain located at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The SkyTrain stop for the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel is located across the driveway on the left side of the hotel. It is a 3 minute train ride to the airport. It is also located walking distance from the Georgia International Convention Center. All around, it’s set up to be one of the best Atlanta airport hotels.
2. It has 204 hotel rooms including 8 suites
3. There is a restaurant, bar, lounge, gym and outdoor space on the property
4. It has 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space including a 3400 square foot ballroom. The meeting rooms are actually named after aviation terms!
The Rooms:
The chic décor with a travel theme makes its way to the rooms at the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel. Attention was paid to every detail. The rooms are spacious with several seating areas. There are movie reel lights above the beds-paying homage to Atlanta being the “Hollywood of the South”. There are USB ports, light controls at the bedside, rooms with showers and tubs, and even a barn door for the bathroom. I entered the bathroom to find beautiful artwork on the wall along with a spacious shower and Aveda products. Room service is also available with an extensive menu. And, the hotel was built with triple pane windows, which not all Atlanta airport hotels can boast. So, although the hotel is in the flight path of the airport, I did not hear any airplane noise in the bedroom or in the hotel.
The Restaurant & Bar:
If you read this blog often (which I am sure you do) then you know that food is a very important part of my travels. I was pleased to find a delicious full service restaurant at the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel: Hickory & Hazel Southern Table & Bar. During my stay I enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Even if you’re thinking of staying in one of the other Atlanta airport hotels, I suggest dining at this restaurant! It’s one of the things that makes this place one of the best hotels in Atlanta. If you have a long layover at the airport, hop on the SkyTrain for a delicious meal and specialty cocktails.

The Amenities:
As mentioned above, the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel offers several great amenities to help keep its place as one of the best hotels in Atlanta.
Hop on the SkyTrain and in 3 minutes you will be at the Atlanta airport. This is one of the closest Atlanta airport hotels. I tried it myself just to confirm this for my readers. The SkyTrain is easy to use, free, very clean, and lets you off right at the airport. You can take escalators or elevators to the South or North terminals. Tip: Use the CheapOAir code AIR50 to get $50 off your next flight.
Enjoy their business/studio area space. It is designed with the “High/Low” interior design method in this case mixing old and new décor. (I loved the touch of an antique typewriter)
Stay healthy while traveling by working out in their fully equipped gym.
Plan a conference, business meeting or banquet in their event space. There is a lovely outdoor area adjacent to the event space called the “Magnolia Patio”. It has a fountain and fire pits and in my opinion is best enjoyed at sunset. While outside you will see and hear airplanes flying overhead, as is usual at Atlanta airport hotels. However, as soon as they pass by, you are back to a tranquil environment listening to music from the outdoor speakers.
Stop by the “Diesel market” behind the front desk to stock up on wine and snacks for your room.
Reward members can enjoy a private club lounge with a large screen TV, breakfast and appetizers during happy hour.
The Events:
As if all the above didn’t already make this one of the best hotels in Atlanta, the Renaissance Atlanta Airport Gateway Hotel has scheduled events to entertain and delight their guests. Enjoy “Evenings at the Renaissance” live music, Djs and mixology demonstrations. On October 18th they had a “S’mores Mixology” event! Save up to 50% on events in Atlanta as well with this deal.
